Professional golfers are taking their talents this week to the most famous tournament in the sport: the Masters. It’s the only one of the four majors that stays in the same place every year. The hallowed grounds of Augusta National will host the festivities at maximum capacity after there were no patrons in 2020 (when the Covid-19 pandemic postponed the event from April to November) and a limited number in 2021. Now the patrons are back in full and they should be treated to an absolutely electric Masters.

Let’s dive into some of the best player prop bets for the season’s first major.

Viktor Hovland to finish in the top 5 (+400)

Hovland is my pick to win the U.S. Open in my four-leg mega parlay for all four of the 2022 golf majors. I would sprinkle some on Hovland to win the Masters outright at +2000, as well. But top 5 at +400 is my best bet for the 24-year-old Norwegian. He is arguably the best player in the world tee to green right now, which is obviously important for any golf course but is especially key at Augusta National. Hovland is 2-for-2 in Masters cuts made in his young career, including a low-amateur distinction in 2019.

Rory McIlroy to finish in the top 10 (+200)

The Masters is the only major that still eludes McIlroy. But to say that he has been in contention many times in the past would be a gross understatement. The Northern Irishman has placed in the top 10 at Augusta National six times, all in the last eight years. Three of those have been top-5 results. In part because McIlroy has not won a major since 2014, he is flying a bit under the radar this week. That could be a good thing with the pressure – aside from his own – relatively off. In his last 15 starts, the 32-year-old has made 14 cuts and during this stretch he has won twice. McIlroy will almost certainly contend again. An outright win bet wouldn’t be a bad idea, either, but I think a top-10 effort this far into plus money has the best value.

Tommy Fleetwood to finish in the top 20 (+230)

Since missing the cut in his first Masters appearance (2017), Fleetwood has made the cut on four consecutive occasions. He should be able to do it again – and even battle his way into the top 20. The 31-year-old Englishman has seven of eight cuts in 2022 (PGA Tour and European Tour combined), including a quartet of top-20 performances.

Kevin Kisner to finish in the top 30 (+160)

Kisner just reached the final of the Match Play Championship, losing to now-world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He also finished fourth at the Players Championship. Although Kisner’s Masters results are not spectacular, he has made four cuts out of six and two of those have led to top-30 results. Combine a decent Augusta history with sparkling current form and the 38-year-old American should be in line for his best-ever result at this event.

Tiger Woods to make the cut (-115)

Tiger is not among the favorites for obvious reasons, but it would be a huge win for the game of golf – and the Masters itself – if he simply tees it up this week. Assuming Tiger does play (he pretty much confirmed it at his Tuesday press conference), there are a whole host of Tiger bets available. I hammered him at +170 to make the cut earlier in the week; now he is -115 to do so following the optimism he expressed to the media. In 23 lifetime appearances at the Masters, the five-time champion has missed the cut only once. And that was way back in 1996! For those counting, that means Tiger has made 21 cuts in a row.
