I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. It’s that special time of year when most of the major sports are in action. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are plenty of crucial contests coming up, which always attract some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the ‘books, with the Cardinals leading the way on Monday.

NFL: Cardinals -2 vs Rams

The Week 14 NFL slate will wrap up with a great NFC West matchup between the Rams and Cardinals. It’s a marquee primetime clash, which means betting volume will be off the charts. And the public knows which side they prefer. A total 68 percent of the bets and 72 percent of the public money are on the Cardinals as a short favorite for Monday Night Football, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.

That was even before news broke that Jalen Ramsey and Tyler Higbee were both being placed on the COVID list, so even more money could be pouring in on Arizona now. We’re backing the public and Kyler Murray for this huge game.

NBA: Warriors -4 @ Pacers

There’s a big NBA slate on Monday, and there are some massive public sides brewing. The first of which is in Indiana, where bettors are lining up to fade the Pacers. The Warriors have been a juggernaut this season, and they’ve been a staple of this column in recent weeks. A total of 94 percent of the bets and a near-unanimous 98 percent of the money are on Golden State minus the points on Monday.

Stephen Curry has a chance to set the three-point record on Monday if he can hit seven from beyond the arc, so perhaps that’s increasing the betting enthusiasm here. We’re on Golden State as well, and in fact it’s a three-star best bet for Monday.

NBA: Nuggets -4.5 vs Wizards

Looking at the later NBA action now, the public is also swarming to the Nuggets. This one is a bit less expected than the Warriors, because Denver certainly hasn’t been playing their best ball recently as they’ve dealt with a bunch of injuries. The Nuggets have been struggling, but they did bounce back with a big win over the Spurs in their most recent game. Now 86 percent of the bets and 90 percent of the public money are counting on them following it up in another strong performance.

The Wizards are just 2-5 in their last seven so it’s not like they are lighting the world on fire, either. Washington started hot, but clearly the public isn’t buying the hype any longer.

NBA: Suns -3 @ Clippers

Wrapping things up now with the slate’s nightcap. It’s a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals that has unfortunately lost a little bit of its marquee appeal due to injuries. But just because some key guys will be missing doesn’t mean the public isn’t going to bet it heavily. A total of 90 percent of the tickets and a whopping 98 percent of the handle are on the Suns here.

Devin Booker is out for Phoenix and Deandre Ayton is questionable, but that isn’t enough to scare anyone away. Probably because Paul George is doubtful for the Clippers. We don’t want any piece of Los Angeles without George either, so we’re backing the Suns, as well.
