I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. March Madness is in full swing, and we also have NBA and NHL action to look forward to. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are some big contests coming up, which always create some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the ‘books, with the Hawks leading the way on Tuesday.

NBA: Hawks -1.5 @ Knicks

We’ve got a small NBA slate on Tuesday with only four games, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a couple public sides. Two of the matchups are nationally televised ones on TNT, and those always attract some heavy betting volume. For the first half of the double-header, 60 percent of the bets and 74 percent of the public money are on the Hawks as a short favorite, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.

This is a big game for both teams, as Knick/Hawks has become somewhat of a fierce rivalry over the past year or so. Knicks fans sure do hate Trae Young, and Young always relishes playing at MSG. I’ve got this game as part of my Tuesday NBA mega parlay, which has odds of +1066!

NBA: Clippers at Nuggets over 223

There is nothing the public loves more than a good over. Looking at the nightcap for Tuesday’s slate, there’s an even bigger public side brewing. In these primetime nationally televised games, bettors are almost always going to be leaning toward the over. Accordingly, 76 percent of the bets and 76 percent of the public money are on the over 223 in Denver.

Los Angeles’ offense hasn’t been great recently and they’re coming off a game where they scored only 92 points, but even that isn’t enough to scare anybody into taking an under. Head over to our full game preview for Clippers vs Nuggets to see if our expert agrees.

NCAAM: Odds to win championship

With the NCAA Tournament on a bit of a break until the Sweet 16 starts on Thursday, now is a great time to reassess the futures market. And DraftKings is giving us a peek at the bet splits for their odds to win the national title. Perhaps unsurprisingly Gonzaga is at the top of the list. A total of 11 percent of the bets and 16 percent of the handle are on the Bulldogs to win it all at +220. Next up are the Arizona Wildcats, who are getting 9 percent of the bets and 13 percent of the public money at +550.

After that we’ve got Duke at 16/1. The Blue Devils are attracting 8 percent of the bets and 9 percent of the money. Kansas clocks in after them at 5 percent and 7 percent respectively, and they’re at +425 odds. Be sure to keep an eye on our March Madness hub for everything we’ve got cooking for the Sweet 16 and beyond.

NHL: Coyotes ML (-110) over Kraken

Wrapping things up with some hockey now. Oddsmakers have this game as even, but bettors sure don’t see it that way. A total of 71 percent of the bets and 79 percent of the public money are on Arizona’s money line at -110. I never thought I’d see the day where the Coyotes are a big public side, but that’s what playing the Kraken will do for you.

Seattle has been one of the worst teams in the league all year, and they’re just 3-12 in their last 15 games. Arizona has actually shown some promise recently, going 6-3 in their last nine, so this one isn’t too shocking upon further thought. You will want to check out our free picks on the side and total for all NHL games tonight before making your wagers.
