NHL pick today: Toronto Maple Leafs 3-Way ML over Columbus Blue Jackets (-160), 7:00 pm ET

Injuries have continued to be an issue for Columbus, which is a primary reason why their 34 points are 10 less than any other team in the Eastern Conference. They will still be without Jakub Voracek and Zach Werenski, so there isn’t much light at the end of the tunnel.

The Leafs did recently take a blow with Auston Matthews’ knee injury, but they have more than enough firepower. Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares would be captains on several other teams. With Toronto’s top-10 goaltending and Columbus scoring the 4th-fewest goals per game, backing the Maple Leafs to win in regulation will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Xavier Musketeers -7.5 over Butler Bulldogs (-102), 7:00 pm ET

The Xavier Musketeers (19-5, 11-2) travel to Indianapolis tonight to take on the Butler Bulldogs (12-13, 4-10) at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Musketeers have won 2-straight after their blowout loss to Creighton despite the absence of Zach Freemantle – who remains out with a foot injury.

As a whole, Xavier ranks first in the Big East in offensive efficiency and 3-point percentage. Xavier’s off-ball action, ability to stretch the floor, and unselfishness offensively (2nd nationally in assist rate) figures to be too much for the Bulldogs, who have not fared well against the Big East’s best offenses to this point. The Musketeers are on another level than the Bulldogs offensively, so backing the Musketeers will be the play.

NHL pick today: New York Rangers 3-Way ML over Seattle Kraken (-120), 7:07 pm ET

The Seattle Kraken travel to New York to take on the Rangers for the second time this season. New York has won 3 games in a row and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Seattle on the other hand, has struggled on their trip out East, losing 2 in a row and sporting a 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

Seattle has also been outscored 7-1 in their last 2 games. They have been unable to generate any kind of offence, and keeping the puck out of their own net has been a challenge. Because of the recent struggles by the Kraken, backing the Rangers in regulation will be the play.

NBA pick today: Sacramento Kings -2.5 over Dallas Mavericks (-110), 10:10 pm ET

Sacramento disappointed a little with only a 2-point win over Houston in their last game, failing to cover the spread. However, winning back-to-back games against the Rockets was badly needed as they were starting to slip a bit in the standings. Returning home after a 7-game road trip should do them well, seeing that the Kings are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games at Golden 1 Center.

Sacramento will also be encouraged by 10 wins in their last 12 games against Western Conference opponents. Consistency is often the difference between teams in the NBA. Sacramento definitely has that, while the Mavericks still have a ways to go in building chemistry with Irving. I know they just beat the Clippers, but Sacramento is a well-oiled machine compared to them. For that reason, backing the Kings will be the play.
