With the New York Knicks advancing to the NBA Finals on Monday, all the attention right now is on the Spurs vs Thunder series as we enter Game 5. Can the defending champs respond after getting beat by 21 points and scoring just 82 points in Game 4? Or will Victor Wembanyama and co. once again reign supreme and take a 3-2 lead?
I’ve prepared a tasty +731 odds Same Game Parlay for Tuesday’s clash, featuring a Spread Pick along with two Player Prop Bets. Remember to bookmark our NBA Predictions page, we’ll have in-depth picks on the NBA Finals very soon! Now let’s jump into my Spurs vs Thunder Game 5 SGP.
OKC Thunder -5.5 (-106)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2+ Made Threes (+102)
Devin Vassell to Record 6+ Rebounds (+162)
Same Game Parlay odds: +731
OKC Thunder -5.5 (-106)
Game four was a lopsided victory for the Spurs. San Antonio took advantage of a bad shooting night for the Thunder. A desperate Spurs defense was able to hold the Thunder to 82 total points and 18% shooting from three-point range. The Thunder missed both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell in this game, they are both questionable for Game 5. The Spurs defense deserves credit, but with the next game set to be played on the Thunders’ home floor, I expect these numbers for these role players to look better on Tuesday. These teams have gone back and forth in controlling this series. In a crucial game like this, I am going to have a slight lean towards the Thunder and their experience over the young Spurs. There are times when the Spurs offense can rely too heavily on Victor Wembanyama’s perimeter offense or De’Aaron Fox’s playmaking, and it has resulted in lengthy scoreless periods for San Antonio. We have already seen the Thunder’s poise in big moments, and we know it will show in Game 5. Back the defending champs to get back in front here.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2+ Made Threes (+102)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had to shoulder most of the ball-handling for the Thunder. The Spurs defense was able to key in on the two-time MVP and held him to 19 points on 6 of 15 shooting, his worst game of the series. With that in mind, I feel like a bounce back performance could be on the cards because if you’re the Thunder you want to avoid going down 3-2 before this series shifts back to San Antonio for Game 6. The MVP has had a number of high pressure situations in the past and has never failed to respond, so we have a large enough sample size to trust him to get the job done in Tuesday’s game as well. The over on this bet has cashed 50% of the time in his last 20 games, including twice in the 4 games of this series. With the physicality likely going up in the remaining 3 games of this series, I’m counting on the MVP to deliver from downtown.
Devin Vassell to Record 6+ Rebounds (+162)
Vassell has been very reliable in this series in terms of grabbing rebounds for San Antonio. He’s cleared this line 3 times in 4 games so far, his impact on Game 4 was immense for the home team as he finished the game with the 2nd best +/- numbers (+27) among all Spurs players. I’m hoping he can remain active in that area of play, the return of De’Aaron Fox from injury has freed up some of his responsibilities on offense which leaves room for him to do other things to help out his team. Vassell has grabbed at least 5 rebounds in 7 of his last 10 games, while in the last 20 meetings between the two sides he’s done it 11 times. Oklahoma City ranks 3rd for Rebounds allowed to shooting guards this season, I’m crossing my fingers Vassell can up that to at least 6 in a crucial Game 5 on Tuesday.
