The World Series is finally here and it features what should be a terrific matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers on Friday. While there are plenty of ways to wager on all of the action during the Fall Classic, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. Even at this point in the season, there is still value to be had in this market, so it’s no wonder that these bets have become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your wagers for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes.

I’m currently on a 41-22 run with my YRFI/NRFI plays, so let’s keep this momentum going! But before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for today’s World Series matchup as well as our Diamondbacks vs Rangers predictions.

Typically I’d like to back a NRFI in Game 1 of the World Series. Offenses are typically a little tight in the opening frame of the first game, and starters tend to have the edge in the early going. However, I don’t see that being the case this time around, especially with how hot these lineups have been heading into this matchup. Both teams just played Championship Series’ where offense was the focal point, especially early on, and I’d expect that trend to continue in this series.

This bet hinges on backing a pair of offenses that have been dominating against opposing pitchers all postseason long, and that’s continued into this series. Between the likes of Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and Adolis Garcia on one side, plus Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte and Gabriel Moreno in the other dugout, we should be able to generate a run in the opening frame. More importantly, these starters have been shaky to start games in this postseason, before settling down as their outings have gone on. Zac Gallen has flirted with danger all playoffs, allowing 14 hits and 9 ER over his last 11 innings pitched. Those struggles should continue against this elite Rangers lineup. On the other side, while Nathan Eovaldi has been great in his postseason career, I don’t expect him to have a great start against a very frisky Diamondbacks lineup. Let’s look for an early run in Arlington.
