MLB playoffs same game parlay (+777 odds): Tampa Bay Rays vs Boston Red Sox

The Tampa Bay Rays

Game 3 of the ALDS between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox is sure to be a good one. With the series tied, today’s winner will take a commanding 2-1 lead. What better way to enhance the excitement than with a little betting action? Specifically, a same game parlay. Let’s take a look a 3-leg parlay I have in mind. On top of this article, be sure to check out our full game previews for each game today. You can also follow me on Twitter for any added plays.

Under 8.5 (-104)

Drew Rasmussen over 3.5 strikeouts (+124)

Randy Arozarena to record 2+ total bases (-120)

Parlay odds: +777

This 3-leg parlay is paying out north of 7/1 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.  Let’s break it down one leg at a time:

Under 8.5 (-104)

After Game 1 totaled only 5 runs, Game 2 totaled 7 runs in the first inning alone. Game 2 ended with 20 total runs being scored in a 14-6 Red Sox victory. Game 3 is likely to more closely resemble the low-scoring output of Game 1 than it will resemble the offensive onslaught from Friday night. Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Red Sox, and he has been outstanding at Fenway Park. He threw the ball extremely wall in the Wild Card game, and he is very comfortable in his home ballpark.  On the other side, Drew Rasmussen has allowed only 3 earned runs in his last 13.0 innings against Boston. Neither bullpen has any usage concerns heading into Sunday’s affair, so both managers should be aggressive with their bullpen usage at the earliest sign of struggles from their starting pitcher. That could limit the scoring opportunities in the latter frames.

Drew Rasmussen over 3.5 strikeouts (+124)

Drew Rasmussen made one appearance out the bullpen in the playoffs last year for Milwaukee, but this will be his first career postseason start. The 26-year-old righty has only been part of the Rays’ organization since May 21, but he has adjusted nicely to the Tampa Bay rotation. In his limited time as a starter, Rasmussen posted an impressive 1.93 ERA to go along with a measly .171 BAA. The Rays clearly trust him, and if there is one organization that knows how to get the most out of young pitchers it is Tampa Bay. Rasmussen has faced the Red Sox 3 times as a starter, and he has reached 4+ strikeouts in 2 of them.  In total, he has 73 strikeouts in 76.0 innings on the year and 14 has punchouts in 15.2 innings against Boston. This is fairly low total, and the +124 odds help provide a boost to this parlay.

Randy Arozarena to record 2+ total bases (-120)

Randy Arozarena has made the most of his postseason opportunities in his young career. Last postseason, Arozarena posted a .377 batting average and 1.273 OPS to go along with a staggering 10 home runs. It was a historic run, and the Tampa Bay outfielder is already seeing some success in this ALDS. He is 2-for-6, and will be looking to keep things going today at Fenway Park. The Boston ballpark has been kind to Arozarena in the past. He is hitting .355 with a .928 OPS in 31 career at-bats at Fenway. Look for Arozarena to keep his postseason success going in this one.
