Chicago Cubs -1.5 over Arizona Diamondbacks (+145)

The Cubs have been just rolling for the better part of two months now but the Diamondbacks have put a little bit of a halt on that strong play. Arizona won the first two games of this series, but now they have to face Justin Steele on Saturday. Steele makes for a tough matchup against any team right now. He is 16-3 with a 2.55 ERA and is coming off a performance of 8 innings, 2 hits, no runs, and 12 strikeouts. The Diamondbacks have an uphill battle on Saturday.

Although Steele is a primary reason to like the Cubs today, he is not the only reason. The Cubs have not lost 3 consecutive games since July 1-3. Given their form since then, a third consecutive loss is something they should be able to avoid as they have for over two months. The Cubs are a good team in good form that will be hosting a playoff-like game trying to avoid a third straight loss. They should come out with some jam.

Baltimore Orioles ML over Boston Red Sox & Over 10.5 (+350)

The Orioles and Red Sox have trended in very opposite directions lately. Baltimore has won 6 straight games and is 8-2 n their last 10 while Boston has lost their last 5 games at home and is 3-8 overall in their last 11 games. The Red Sox are the money line favorite though, which gives the plus-money odds for Baltimore a ton of appeal. The Orioles won the first game of this series 11-2 on Friday and look too good to fade right now.

The over has been trending for both the Orioles and Red Sox lately. The over has hit in Baltimore’s last 6 games and in 5 out of their last 6 on the road. The total has also gone over in 17 of Boston’s last 20 games and in 6 out of their last 7 played against Baltimore. The starting pitchers are Jack Flaherty for the O’s and Chris Sale for the Red Sox. The over is 4-1-1 in their combined last 6 starts and appears headed for another one given recent trends and performances.
