We are wrapping up the week in Major League Baseball with a full 15-game slate on Sunday. The Padres and Nationals are getting things started with at 12:05 pm ET on Peacock, while the headliner is coming at night: Yankees at Red Sox on ESPN. In between there are crucial divisional contests involving the Phillies, Mets, Brewers and Cardinals.

I cashed my Monday mega parlay at +937 odds, so let’s bookend the week with winners!

Padres -1.5 (+100)

Orioles ML (+140)

Mariners -1.5 (+140)

Parlay odds: +1052

For this parlay we are going with two favorites on the run line and one underdog on the money line. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

Padres -1.5 over Nationals (+100)

It’s been pretty much chaos for the Padres of late. They pulled off the biggest trade-deadline deal by landing Juan Soto from San Diego and then just saw Fernando Tatis Jr. get hit with an 80-game suspension. Nonetheless, San Diego has won 3 of its last 4 games – with the only blemish during this stretch coming via a 4-3 loss on Saturday. The visitors were in complete control of that contest before collapsing late and blowing a 3-run lead. Washington is 2-8 in its last 10 overall and 4-15 in its last 19 at home. The Nationals are starting Paolo Espino, who will be hard-pressed to get the best of San Diego’s Blake Snell. All signs point to the Padres rolling.

Orioles ML over Rays (+140)

These American League East rivals split the first two games, which makes Sunday’s rubber match especially important since Baltimore and Tampa Bay are separated by only 0.5 games for the final wild-card spot in the AL. The Orioles’ loss on Saturday was only their third loss in August, so it’s nothing to be alarmed about. As for the Rays, they had lost 3 in a row prior to that victory. Jordan Lyles will be taking the mount for the Orioles, countered by Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Lyles is 9-8 with a 4.35 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. He pitched against the Rays in late July and did not allow an earned run in 5.2 innings or work. Lyles is complimented by a red-hot offense and that should be enough for Baltimore to take care of business.

Mariners -1.5 over Rangers (+140)

The Mariners beat the Rangers 6-2 on Friday night for 9 straight wins in the head-to-head series and 11 out of 14 meetings this season. Texas finally turned the tide with a victory on Saturday, but there is no reason to think the home team will take two straight. The Rangers are still 5-9 in their last 14 and the Mariners’ surge of good form includes two recent series wins over the Yankees. Seattle should be in good shape to get back in the win column with Logan Gilbert on the mound. He is 10-5 with a 3.47 ERA and boasts a 1.02 ERA in 17.2 innings against Texas in 2022.
