The Twins finally did it. They won their first playoff game since 2004, ending an 18-game playoff losing streak. That is almost impressive to have been swept that many times in a row. But they have now put that losing streak behind them and want more. With a win, the Twins can advance to the ALDS while the Blue Jays have other plans. Another strong pitching matchup should keep this one close and make for some great late-game drama.

Twins win (-135)

Under 8.5 (-150)

Carlos Correa 2+ total bases (+155)

Same Game Parlay odds: +575

Twins win (-135)

The Twins finally got a taste of winning in the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades and now they want more. Tuesday’s win gave the Twins their 9th win in their last 12 games and the 4th win in their last 5 at home. Over the last month or so, the Twins have played arguably their best baseball of the season and at the most ideal time. They are feeling some kind of mojo up there in Minneapolis.

While the Twins have played well, the inconsistent play of the Blue Jays is also a factor in the appeal of taking Minnesota outright. Toronto just has not been able to put it all together for any extended length of time. The Jays are now 9-11 in their last 20 games, 2-5 in their last 7 games, and 2-4 in their last 6 against Minnesota. The task is even taller facing a pitching in Sonny Gray who has been nothing but steady and reliable. This one looks good for the Twins to clinch.

Under 8.5 (-150)

Tuesday’s game comfortably went under the total. If it were not for a pair of home runs by the Twins’ Royce Lewis, the total may have been even lower than 4 runs. That under was the 4th of the last 5 played between these teams in Minnesota. In a game that can result in a clinch for one team and elimination for the other, the margin of error is even thinner today. A solid pitching matchup should reinforce those under trends.

The Blue Jays will trot out Jose Berrios to save their season and will be matched with Sonny Gray for the Twins. In their respective last 3 starts, the under has hit very comfortably in 5 of the 6 combined starts. Both pitchers enter the game with solid numbers this season, strong recent form, and with favorable historical numbers against the opposing lineup. Wednesday’s matchup looks good for another under between these teams.

Carlos Correa 2+ total bases (+155)

Of all of the hitters in the Twins lineup, Carlos Correa has the best postseason pedigree and it really isn’t even close. At 28, Correa has played in 16 playoff series including 3 World Series. In his playoff career, Correa is hitting .272 with 18 home runs, 59 RBIs, an .849 OPS and 152 total bases in 79 games played. If there is anyone in this Twins lineup who is going to be an offensive contributor, it is likely going to be Correa.

An injury has sidelined Correa since September 18, but he had a solid September before then. Last month, Correa hit .296 with an .840 OPS. He returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s Game 1 and collected a hit. He was just a base hit by a teammate behind him away from collecting a second base. Getting odds of +155 for a player of this pedigree to collect 2 bases is great value both alone and as part of this parlay.
