Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The entire NHL was off on Thursday for Thanksgiving, but we were able to cash our +861 mega parlay the night before the holiday. Let’s make the return just as profitable. With the league being granted the rest, nearly every team is in action tonight. While breaking down 14 games can seem overwhelming, that’s what we’re here for. Not only are there plenty of games, but we also get early afternoon hockey. I even have 1 of those early contests featured in this mega parlay, so let’s break it down.

Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

Chicago Blackhawks ML (-125) over Montreal Canadiens

We’re getting things started with an afternoon game that may seem surprising to some fans. The Blackhawks have not been an easy team to back this season, but neither have the Canadiens. Although they won their most recent game, that was against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team with the 2nd-fewest wins in the Eastern Conference. Still, Montreal fell to that same Jackets team just last week. Between those 2 matchups was also a thrashing by the Buffalo Sabres.

That was a 7-2 loss, which was at home. Now the Habs have to travel to Chicago to take on a Blackhawks team that just put up a strong fight against a great Dallas Stars team. While they too are on a losing skid, Patrick Kane and company can take advantage of the weak Canadiens goaltending. Montreal is allowing 3.55 goals per game, the 6th-most in the NHL. Neither team made any significant additions during the offseason, and Chicago won both meetings last year. This may not be the marquee matchup of Friday night, but the Blackhawks can end their losing skid on home ice.

New Jersey Devils -1.5 (+150) over Buffalo Sabres

Unlike the Blackhawks, the Devils have been much easier to back this season. They have been arguably the biggest surprise story of the first 6 weeks of the season. Although they’re sitting at 16-4-0 at the top of the Metro Division, they will be out with a vengeance. Their 13-game winning streak was just ended on Wednesday night by the Toronto Maple Leafs. While that helped us cash that +861 mega parlay, now they can help us cash another in a different way. We caught some luck with that Leafs win, and some bad fortune if you ask Devils fans.

There were 3 disallowed goals in that game that helped Toronto pull off the upset. The Sabres may be riding high from their recent wins, but New Jersey is a team that can bring them back down to Earth. Buffalo is just behind the Canadiens in terms of goals allowed per game, while the Devils are scoring the 4th-most goals per game. Meanwhile, Jersey has been stout defensively, especially on the road. They’re allowing just 2.22 goals per game away from their own arena, the 2nd-best mark in the NHL. That’s a lot of 2’s, but they should come out #1 in terms of this game on Friday evening.

New York Islanders -1.5 (+140) over Columbus Blue Jackets

Our final leg focuses on a team that may not be known for their goal-scoring, but the matchup is too good to pass up. The Islanders are a team that prefers to win low-scoring games off the back of goaltender Ilya Sorokin. However, that elite goaltending should keep the Blue Jackets far behind the Islanders all game. Sorokin and company just shut down Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. That’s an incredible accomplishment, and the Jackets are nowhere near the caliber of that squad.

They’ve been at the bottom of the Metro Division all season and were just held to a single goal by the aforementioned terrible Canadiens goaltending. Montreal defeated them by multiple goals, so the Islanders certainly can. It also helps that Columbus has allowed the most goals per game overall, and at home. Both situations are averages of over 4 goals per game, so even a defensive-focused team like New York can take advantage of that. With Patrik Laine and Zach Werenski still out for the Jackets, there’s not much reason to expect a fight from them on Friday night.

Friday’s NHL mega parlay (11/25)

Blackhawks ML (-125)

Devils -1.5 (+150)

Islanders -1.5 (+140)
