Super Bowl Halftime Show Previous Results & Trends
Unlike other Super Bowl novelty prop bets like the coin toss and gatorade color, the halftime ones change every year since the performer does as well. For example last year when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were the Super Bowl 54 halftime act, there were a wide array of props available.
One was whether they would both show cleavage, with ‘yes’ being a resounding favorite at -250. Another was whether a football would be used as a prop, with ‘yes’ being set at +350 and ‘no’ at -600. There are always some fun ones that are directly tied to the performers themselves, like last year when a prop was whether or not Alex Rodriguez (Lopez’s husband) would be shown during the broadcast. ‘Yes’ was +175 and ‘no’ was -260.
The year before Maroon 5 was the halftime act, and there were a slew of props surrounding frontman Adam Levine. One of those was whether he’d wear a hat to start the show. The answer was no. With any musical act, there are always going to be ‘first song performed’ props, Maroon 5’s turned out to be ‘Hard to Breathe.’ You get the idea.
2021 Super Bowl Halftime Odds
There are a bunch of novelty bets this year, which we’ve compiled from various sportsbooks, and the most popular may be which song The Weeknd will perform first. ‘Blinding Lights’ is the favorite at +180, followed by ‘Save Your Tears’ at +200 and ‘Pray For Me’ at +250. ‘Starboy’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ are both +300, and after that the odds get long with all other songs having odds of +900 or higher.
You can also bet on the color of jacket The Weeknd will be wearing when he first appears, with ‘black’ being a +110 favorite. ‘Red’ is +175, ‘blue’ and ‘white’ are both +300, and ‘purple’ is +500.
There are some real novelty ones, like whether or not he’ll mention President Joe Biden, with ‘yes’ being +425 and ‘no’ being -800. Donald Trump can similarly be bet at ‘yes’ +450 and ‘no’ -900. The Weeknd is known for often wearing gloves, and he’s -300 to be wearing a pair when he starts and +200 to not be. Other bets available include whether his final song will be an original or a cover, and whether or not he’ll wear sunglasses.
