NHL pick today: Winnipeg Jets 3-Way ML over Montreal Canadiens (-135), 7:00 pm ET

Winnipeg has been winning plenty of low-scoring games — so many, in fact, that the Jets have worked their way to the top of the Central Division and entire Western Conference. They have been so strong this season behind the consistency of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. He has been a mainstay for them for years now, but with a healthy Nikolaj Ehlers, Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and others in front of him, they are much more balanced. Given that the Canadiens score the 3rd-fewest goals per game, expect the Jets to soar through Montreal tonight.

College Basketball pick today: Tennessee Volunteers -6 over Mississippi State Bulldogs (-110), 7:00 pm ET

My favorite play for this game is Tennessee -6 as they are the much better team. These two teams met earlier this month and Tennessee rolled to 87-53 win. They held Mississippi State to shoot just 22.2% from beyond the arc while shooting a miraculous 69.2% from the field and 57.1% from beyond the arc. I expect a very similar result here as the Bulldogs have lost five of their last six games including losses to Drake and Georgia who are ranked outside the top 80 in KenPom’s rankings. Considering that the Bulldogs have been trending downhill as of recently, backing the Volunteers to win and cover will be the play.

NBA pick today: Brooklyn Nets -5.5 over San Antonio Spurs (-110), 8:10 pm ET

Over the last 10 games the Nets have boasted the league’s 2nd best defense according to their defensive rating. The Spurs however are on the opposite end of the spectrum in that category, ranking 29th. They have given up at least 130 points in 3 straight games. The Nets themselves put up 139-points against them earlier in January, in what was a 36-point blowout.

The Spurs had no answer for Kyrie Irving in that game, with the guard scoring 27 points in 29 minutes on 78.6% shooting from the field. He is likely going to see time against Tre Jones once again, with the hosts point guard lacking the size to effectively impact his shot. I expect a monster night from Irving to help lead the Nets to a comfortable win over this porous defence.

College Basketball pick today: Wisconsin Badgers -3.5 over Penn State Nittany Lions (-110), 8:30 pm ET

Wisconsin started the season 11-2 but have struggled heavily over their last three games losing to Illinois, Michigan State, and Indiana. The Badgers star center Tyler Wahl has been out with an injury which has led to these poor performances, however he is expected to be back for this game tonight.

The Badgers have not been untouchable in their home arena this season compared to most years, but I think Penn State will have to regress at some point and this is the perfect opportunity for Wisconsin to get back on track. They looked like one of the best teams in the country early in the season by slowing down the pace of play and taking care of the basketball. Penn State plays a similar style to Wisconsin, but I expect to Wisconsin to beat them at their own game. For that reason, backing Wisconsin to cover will be the play.
