UFC Fight Night 225 Main Card best bets

Max Holloway vs The Korean Zombie – Fight to go the Distance – Yes (+130)

Max Holloway is a significant favorite, so his money line looks far too risky to bet here. Instead, we will be looking for this fight to go the distance. Holloway has seen his last 8 fights go the distance, while The Korean Zombie has seen 2 of his last 3 fights go the distance as well. For that reason, backing this fight to go the distance will be our best bet.

Ryan Spann ML over Anthony Smith (-130)

Ryan Spann comes into this fight with an MMA record of 21-8. He is 8-4 in the UFC, most recently losing to Nikita Krylov by submission back in March of this year. Spann is averaging 3.28 significant strikes per minute and has a striking accuracy of 44%. He is absorbing 3.32 strikes and has a striking defense of 48%. His grappling is also solid, averaging 1.64 takedowns per every 15 minutes and 1.9 submission attempts during the same time period. Spann’s takedown accuracy is 37% and his takedown defense is 45%.

These guys fought in 2021, where Anthony Smith won by submission. Since that fight, Smith has gone 0-2, while Spann is 2-1. Spann is likely going to have a better gameplan in the rematch so because he has been more consistent recently, backing him to win will be our best bet.

Rinya Nakamura Win in Round 1 over Fernie Garcia (+100)

Rinya Nakamura comes into this fight with an MMA record of 7-0. He is 3-0 in the UFC, most recently beating Toshiomi Kazama by KO/TKO back in February of this year. Nakamura is averaging 8.57 significant strikes per minute and has a striking accuracy of 50%. He is absorbing 3.65 strikes and has a striking defense of 62%. His grappling is also elite, averaging 4.76 takedowns per every 15 minutes and is averaging 2.4 submission attempts per every 15 minutes. He has a takedown accuracy of 66% and his takedown defense of 100%.

Nakamura is one of the biggest favorites on the entire card, so his money line cannot be considered an option. Instead, we will look for Nakamura to win by a specific method. Nakamura has won 6 of his 7 career fights by finish, while 5 of these 6 wins came in the first round. This includes his last 2 fights in a row. He looks set to dominate this fight quickly as well, therefore backing Nakamura to win in Round 1 will be our best bet.
