Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

There’s something for everyone on this sports-filled Thursday, with NFL, MLB, NHL and college football all on offer. Let’s get straight into it!

About Last Night

NHL handicappers go 6-2-2 on Wednesday
The NHL was the only show in town on Wednesday night, with no MLB playoffs action, but our handicappers stepped up to the plate, going 6-2-2 on sides and totals on the 5 games. Stanley Cup favorites the Colorado Avalanche won their opener 4-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks. They are +500 with FanDuel Sportsbook, with the Lightning at +650 and the Golden Knights +700.

Today’s Slate

Super Bowl champions on TNF
Tampa Bay’s defense of the Vince Lombardi Trophy has gone pretty smoothly so far and they head into Thursday Night Football (Fox, 8:20pm ET) at 4-1 to take on the 2-3 Philadelphia Eagles. Read our preview of Bucs vs Eagles here.

It’s all on the line for Giants and Dodgers
We have a winner-take-all elimination game in the MLB playoffs as the Dodgers and Giants, who won 213 regular-season games between them, play their deciding game at 9:07pm ET (TBS). Read our preview of Dodgers vs Giants here.

Busy night in the NHL
We’ve had 7 NHL games to enjoy over the first 2 days of the new season, but tonight we get a slate of 9 games, including seeing some teams in action for the second time. The late game sees the Vegas Golden Knights take on the LA Kings (ESPN+, 10:30pm ET). Read today’s NHL game previews here.

Navy sets sail on Thursday night
Thursday’s top College Football game sees the 3-3 Memphis Tigers presented with an interesting tactical challenge against the 1-4 Navy Midshipmen (ESPN, 7:30pm ET). Check out our full preview of the game here.

Best Bet of the Day

Under 6.5 goals in Pittsburgh Penguins vs Florida Panthers
7:30pm ET, ESPN

Florida should be involved in plenty of games that go over the total this season, but tonight that is not the case. Some teams have been slow out of the gate this season and the Panthers could fall into that category. The Penguins scored 6 goals on Tuesday, but 3 of them were empty-netters in a strange third period. It is not common to see empty cages that often and there is lots of firepower missing from the Penguins’ lineup. Read our full game preview for Penguins vs Panthers.

Stat of the Day

The Giants lost only 5 of Logan Webb’s 26 starts this season, but every loss came away from San Francisco. They host the Dodgers tonight.

Boost of the Day

Tom Brady to throw for 300+ passing yards & Buccaneers to win vs Eagles

Tom Brady threw for 411 yards and 5 TDs against the Dolphins on Sunday, and FanDuel Sportsbook has improved the odds on him posting 300+ passing yards in a Bucs win over the Eagles tonight from +150 to +190.
