NHL Best Bets Today: October 27 Picks & Predictions, including Red Wings vs Lightning
The entire NBA is off the court today, but the NHL has us covered with an awesome 11-game slate. With some great matchups on the ice, having our NHL best bets today is a must. It’s also worth noting that eight of the games are all in the early window of 7 PM ET, so there is no time to waste. After breaking down each of the matchups, we’ve come up with our favorite trio of plays for you!

NHL Best Bets Today: Minnesota Wild 3-Way ML (+100) Over Philadelphia Flyers
We’re going to kick things off with an interconference clash in the City of Brotherly Love where NFL fans are hoping that the Philadelphia Flyers can turn things around so that they have something to root for. They started that process on Sunday prior to the Eagles loss by taking down the Utah Mammoth, but we’re going against them with our NHL best bets today.
They get to remain at home after putting up six goals, but that was far more of an outlier than the norm for the Flyers this season. Only the Vancouver Canucks are worse in terms of expected goal percentage, and it’s safe to say that isn’t good company to keep these days. On the flip side, the Minnesota Wild are coming off a 5-1 road victory, and a handful of goals is something we can expect here. Their firepower led by Kirill Kaprizov can put up goals in bunches, hence why they’re a top-five team in terms of expected goal percentage. That’s why they’re sitting atop the Central Division right now, so we’re going to start our NHL best bets today with Minnesota getting it done without needing overtime.

NHL Best Bets Today: Tampa Bay Lighting -1.5 (-110) Over Detroit Red Wings
Another matchup in the earlier window is just about the most polarizing game possible, as the Detroit Red Wings have had Dylan Larkin request a trade, while the Tampa Bay Lightning has had the same from Nikita Kucherov. While those may be a similar piece to the puzzle, the rest of the matchup has us feeling great about adding to our NHL best bets today.
Firstly, the Lightning are simply a better team around Kucherov, particularly in net. They have the Big Cat, Andrei Vasilevskiy, and along with it just being a strong franchise overall, the Kucherov request took a ton of fans by surprise. Regardless, they’re the more talented roster top to bottom, and as if that wasn’t enough, they’re getting to host a demoralized Detroit team on the second leg of a back-to-back. They were just on the other coast of the Sunshine State taking on the Florida Panthers, and for our NHL best bets today to shine bright, we’ve got a multi-goal win for Tampa Bay.
NHL Best Bets Today: Utah Mammoth ML (-120) Over Toronto Maple Leafs
To round things out, we are going to be circling back to a team that we noted above - the Mammoth. While they did most recently get upset by the Flyers, they’re still a team in the mix with the Wild and Colorado Avalanche at the top of the Central Division. With their goalscoring ability, they make the cut for our NHL best bets today.
We just locked in picks on the Wild and Lightning, and Utah ranks ahead of both of those teams in terms of expected goal percentage. Only the New Jersey Devils and defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes are above them, so that sets up beautifully when taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs. It isn’t quite the dumpster fire that many in East Canada would have you believe with a healthy Auston Matthews, but once again, their goaltending is a major issue. The Leafs rank #5 in terms of expected goals against, which is bad news when facing the Mammoth. Sure, they were able to beat up on the lowly Canucks in their last matchup, but for our NHL best bets today, we’re locking in Utah to win this game outright.
