Braves vs Rockies Pickswise Expert Predictions

Run Line Pick
ATL Braves -1.5(-110)

The Atlanta Braves will look to complete the series sweep against the Colorado Rockies as Spencer Strider makes his season debut after returning from the 15-day injured list due to an oblique strain. Strider looked sharp in his rehab assignment despite going 0-1, as he posted a 1.42 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP while striking out 18 in 12.2 innings pitched. The Rockies will send southpaw Kyle Freeland to the mound, who is 1-2 with a 3.48 ERA. Freeland is coming off his worst start of the season against the Reds, giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits through 5 innings pitched.

The Braves are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now, but my biggest concern for tonight’s matchup isn’t Atlanta’s offense, rather what kind of performance we will see from Strider. Yes, he has done well in the minors in his rehab start, but he struggled in the majors last season, going 7-14 with a 4.45 ERA. The Rockies aren’t a bad offensive team, averaging 5.2 runs and hitting .280 in their last 10 games, so they can do some damage to Strider if he’s not on his game. However, even if Strider does give up a few against the Rockies, this Braves team can easily come back, just like we saw on Friday night. At the end of the day, my only concern would be Strider given his last year’s performance, but with a few solid outings in the minors, I think he can limit the damage and help his team complete the sweep.

Braves vs Rockies prediction: Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-110) at time of publishing. Playable to -130.
