Run Line Prediction

When these teams met to start the season the Tigers took two of three. Now they are looking to win on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep. The offense has really dried up with just four runs over the first two games of the series. With players like Miguel Cabrera struggling they are relying on guys like Wilson Ramos (three homers) and rookie Akil Baddoo, who homered in his first two Major League games. This team is likely to struggle all season long.

The Indians won the final game of their series against the Royals so if they can get the sweep this weekend that will be four straight. They are not killing the ball but Jose Ramirez and Franmil Reyes are able to supply enough offense on enough nights for them to be competitive with a pitching staff that is in the top five in ERA. It is going to be the same story offensively on most nights, even when they are taking on light pitching like Detroit’s.

The Indians are going with Logan Allen on Sunday and even though he is far from their ace he is still much better than what Detroit can offer. Jose Urena was a bust in his first start for the Tigers throwing less than half of his pitches for strikes. Allen wound up getting the start for the Indians in their home opener. He took the loss but pitched well enough to get the win. KC’s lineup is not elite but it is much tougher to navigate than this one. He should pitch well enough for them to get a lead the bullpen can hold.

Take the Indians.

Game Totals Prediction

I am not a fan of pairing run lines with unders but this game is not giving us much choice. You need to go with the run line to get enough value with the Indians but both of these teams are struggling on offense to start the season. If either of these pitchers had a little more recognition this line would probably be seven and a half so I think we are getting really good value. Allen can be really good, and even if Urena is off, which is likely, the Indians don’t have a ton of big bats to make him pay. Look for the Indians to plate four or five in an easy win that goes under. No reason for the home side to bat in the ninth always helps too.

Take the under.
