Detroit Tigers vs The Athletics Prediction, Odds and Picks for Wednesday, 08/27/25

I see concerns with backing the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, but those concerns are alleviated when seeing their money line price point. I find the Tigers to be undervalued in their matchup with The Athletics on Wednesday and I expect them to grab a road win as they march towards postseason play. The posted total for this matchup sits at 10.5 as Detroit transitions from their pitcher-friendly home park to this hitter-friendly minor league park. Casey Mize is set to start for Detroit in this matchup. He entered the all-star break with a 3.15 ERA, a mark that has since risen to 3.68, but Mize is still one of the more reliable options in this starting rotation for the Tigers and he is my preferred starter in this game.

Luis Morales is set to start for the Athletics, as the 22-year-old gets ramped up for his 5th MLB appearance. The Athletics are out of postseason contention, and their current standing has allowed them to bring up several young contributors. Morales has pitched well so far with 15.2 innings and just 3 earned runs allowed to date. This includes 6 innings of 1-run ball in his last appearance against the Mariners. While Morales is in good form, I have a hard time pricing him this close to Mize and the Tigers, and I look for Detroit to win this game.
