Angels vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
LA Angels Win(+160)

After a brief offensive surge on Monday, the New York Yankees fell right back into their struggles, managing just one run in a 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels last night. The Yankees will now look to salvage the series, but this remains a tough spot given their current form. On the mound, New York will turn to Luis Gil who struggled in his first start of the season against Tampa Bay, giving up three runs on three hits in four innings pitched. For the Angels, Jack Kochanowicz will get the nod, entering with a 2-0 record and a 3.24 ERA through three starts this season.

While neither team has been electric offensively, the Angels have shown some signs of life in this series. In their last six games, the Angels are batting .267 and averaging 6.8 runs per game. As for the Yankees, they’re hitting just .191 and averaging 3.5 runs per game in their last seven games. The Yankees are going to need to make some adjustments in their lineup if they want to be contenders in the AL East this season. You have players like Trent Grishman who got paid $22 million for one year with the Yankees and is hitting .154, Jazz Chisholm hitting .177, Austin Wells batting .178, Jose Caballero batting .179 , Ryan McMahon batting .128, and Randal Grichuk hitting 0.63. Sure, the Yankees have a few players who are hitting the ball well like Ben Rice, Giancarlo Standon, and Aaron Judge is starting to heat up – but that’s not enough to win games. Plus, the Yankees pitching staff has a 4.40 ERA in their last seven games and their bullpen has been heavily utilized as of late. It’s hard for me to trust the Yankees in this spot, especially as a big favorite. Look for the Angels to get to Gil early and steal another game in the Bronx.
