Twins vs Nationals Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
WAS Nationals Win(-110)

This is a prime opportunity to back the Washington Nationals in a spot where they should be laying juice, while fading one of the shakier pitching profiles in baseball. Washington’s offense has quietly turned a corner, and after erupting for 15 runs in yesterday’s demolition of the Minnesota Twins, the confidence level in this lineup is clearly growing. But then again the Nats production and their explosive has been on display all throughout the season already. Now, they get a chance to take aim at one of Simeon Woods Richardson.

SWR’s metrics are genuinely alarming. Woods Richardson enters 0-5 with a 6.49 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP, and has consistently struggled to limit traffic. His FIP sits at an equally scary 6.46. The deeper concern is that this is not just a rough stretch, it has become a pattern. He has already been tagged repeatedly this season, where innings unraveled quickly once runners reached base. And even if Woods Richardson exits early, that does not necessarily save Minnesota. The Twins bullpen has been inconsistent throughout the year and heavily taxed during recent losing stretches. Washington’s offense meanwhile is increasingly capable of creating crooked innings once momentum swings. This is not the same Nationals lineup the market remembers from prior seasons. Washington is playing with energy, the bats are waking up, and they draw one of the most vulnerable starters on the board. Back the Nationals.
