Under 8.0(-115)

When Los Angeles Angels DH Jorge Soler hit a two-run home run in the first inning on Friday night, it looked like the New York Mets were about to lose yet another game. However, a four-run rally late helped New York to a 4-3 comeback victory. There is still plenty of work left to do for the Mets, but a confidence-building win was something they needed.

The Mets have a good chance to make it two games in a row on Saturday with ace Nolan McLean on the mound. The righty has been one of the lone bright spots this season, owning a 2.55 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP. Amazingly, his overall record with those numbers is just 2-1, which shows how incompetent the rest of the Mets roster has been. McLean went five innings in his last start, allowing five hits, one earned run, and striking out seven. He still took the loss.

The Angels’ Reid Detmers has been his usual self this season, not blowing anyone away with his abilities but also giving Los Angeles some quality starts. The good news for the Angels is that the Mets have collectively been terrible against left-handed pitching this season, and their offense has been inconsistent at best.

The Mets feel like a good spot in this game with McLean taking the mound and assuming the team has to get him some wins at some point. However, it’s hard to trust the struggling Mets offense, which makes this more of an under game.

Mets vs Angels prediction: Under 8 (-115) available at time of publishing. Playable to that number.
