The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers finish a series on Wednesday night. Like most teams, the Mets can’t wait to get out of LA, although the problem is deeper than that for the Mets. They have now dropped 7 games in a row, and things are looking ugly. Lindor isn’t hitting, Soto is on the IL, and the rest of the lineup feels really thin. On top of that, Shohei is on the mound for the Dodgers today, making this game feel like #8 for the Mets. I am sure bettors will pile on tonight and fade the Mets, but let’s not miss the opportunity here. We don’t often get a good price on the Run Line for underdogs, and this is a spot to pay attention. I’ll take the Mets +1.5.

First, New York is at least pitching well. Clay Holmes has been good this season, pitching to a 1.50 ERA in 3 starts. He had a hamstring issue in his last outing, but he is cleared to go tonight. If there is a bright spot for the Mets, it has been their bullpen, which has an ERA below 3.00 as a unit, 6^th best in the league. It is also really rare for Major League teams to go through these kinds of protracted slumps, and about the time the public catches on and jumps on board, fortunes change. I don’t know if they break the streak tonight, but they don’t even have to. I’ll chance the Run Line here.
