Mariners vs White Sox Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Under 7.5(+105)

Fresh off a series win against the Braves, the Seattle Mariners will look to keep that momentum rolling as they open a 3-game set against the Chicago White Sox. This should be a great pitchers duel, as the Mariners send Emerson Hancock to the mound, who is 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 7 starts this season. For Chicago, they’ll counter with Sean Burke, who is 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP through 5 starts.

The White Sox have been hitting the ball well in their last 10 games, tallying 4.3 runs per game with a .238 average. For the Mariners, they’re averaging 3.8 runs per game while hitting .217 in that same span. While both starters are fairly even and these offenses are producing a similar rate, the big difference lies with the bullpen. The Mariners have one of the best bullpens in the majors, holding a 3.14 ERA compared to the White Sox’s 4.49 ERA. While this game could go either way, both starting pitchers have been terrific this season, and neither team is lighting up the scoreboard. The Mariners are averaging just 3.7 runs per game on the road, while the White Sox are averaging the same 3.7 runs per game on their home field this season. Taking everything into consideration, I’m expecting runs to be tough to come by in tonight’s matchup, which is why I’m backing the under.
