Rangers vs Nationals Pickswise Expert Predictions
I favor the under in Saturday’s matchup between the Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals. FanDuel sportsbook has the lone 8.5 on the board at the time of posting, but I would play the under 8 at -105 odds or better as well. Jacob deGrom is set to make his 13th start of the season for the Rangers, and the veteran right-hander has totaled 69.1 innings with a 2.34 ERA in his first 12 outings. deGrom has been elite in his last 9 starts, allowing no more than 2 earned runs in any of those outings while allowing just 11 total in that span. He faces a Washington offense that performs better in their home park, a park that tends to favor hitting, but deGrom should pound the zone and work from ahead with regularity in this outing.
Mitchell Parker is not as good, allowing 3 or more earned runs in each of his last 7 outings after what had been a solid start to his campaign. Parker has faced a number of good offenses in a row, however, and Saturday’s matchup is more favorable for the southpaw. Texas ranks just 27th in wOBA with a wRC+ of 60 against left-handed pitching since May 1, and overall on the season they rank 25th in wOBA with a 74 wRC+. While Parker’s profile is not typically one I look to back, the combination of poor offense from Texas and the elite form of deGrom should result in a lower scoring game.
Washington Nationals vs Texas Rangers predictions: Under 8.5 (-122) available at time of publishing. Playable to under 8 (-105) or better.
