For the 8th time in 11 games the Nets go into a game as double-digit underdogs, as they face the LA Lakers on Friday at Crypto.com Arena. Brooklyn has lost 9 games in a row overall and 5 consecutive on the road, this will be their 4th and final game on this West coast road trip after which they have 6 straight home games to play. Despite the loss to Golden State on Wednesday, they were able to keep things close until the very end losing only by 3 points. Can they do something similar against the Lakers? It’s hard to say. LA won the first meeting by 16 points back in early February, right now the list of absent players due to injuries includes 5 players.

Speaking of injuries, for the Lakers you’ll see Luka Doncic, Marcus Smart and Rui Hachimura as questionable for Friday’s game. It’ll be their first home game since the 6-game road trip which saw them go 5-1 SU, losing only to the Detroit Pistons. Luka Doncic has been on fire for quite some time offensively, he’s averaging 39.1 points, 8 rebounds and 7.5 assists over his last 10 games. LA has covered in 7 straight at home and in 11 of their last 15 overall. They’re also 6-1 SU in 7 games vs East opponents, but here’s the kicker – they’re just 1-6 ATS in 7 home games against the Nets.

Brooklyn is playing with absolutely no pressure here, facing a team that could be a bit slow out the gate after playing on the road for almost two weeks. LA’s offense is a bit of concern here as well, they’ve been too Doncic centric in my opinion which has led to them making just 9, 8 and 8 threes in their last 3 games. If Luka isn’t able to go they might find it hard to score the ball here. Lakers probably win, but I’m not sure this one ends in a blowout, so I’ll back the Nets plus the massive spread.
