Logan Webb (SF) Over 17.5 outs (-150)

Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Logan Webb is still more than capable of being the ace for the San Francisco Giants. The right-handed All-Star has had a tough start to the season against inferior opponents. He opened for the Giants against the Yankees, and even though he struck out 12 Yankees, he allowed 4 runs. Luckily for us, Webb was still able to get through 6 innings. Fast forward to his next two starts. He faced off against the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers – both teams with talented offenses.

It gets much easier today against the Detroit Tigers, who are hovering around hitting .200 against right-handed pitching. It’s important to note what occurred during the first two games of the series. Both games have gone to extra innings including the Giants taxing their bullpen. Webb will be needed to eat up innings for the Giants and be the ace that the baseball world knows he is. Webb’s pitch count should continue to rise as he threw a season-high 94 pitches last time out. Dating back to last season, he is over this line in 63% of starts including 12/17 on the road.

Reid Detmers (LAA) Over 1.5 walks allowed (-140)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Detmers makes up another lefty in the Los Angeles Angels rotation. We cashed in on Pablo Sandoval under 5.5 hits allowed in our MLB player prop bet article last Friday, but it was not pretty. Sandoval did not make it out of the 4th inning and allowed 3 walks. Last night it got worse. Tyler Anderson issued 4 free passes and allowed 6 runs in 4 innings. With all that information, it makes sense to fade Detmers here.

It’s not a secret that Detmers has control issues. In his rookie season, he allowed at least 2 walks in 16 of 25 games and has answered that by going over this line in both starts this season. The Angeles desperately need Detmers to go deep into this game like the Giants need Webb which we dove into earlier in our first MLB player prop bet. Detmers isn’t known to be an innings eater because of his inability to get batters out fast. He gets into deep counts and keeps hitters alive.

Even though it’s early in the season, the Red Sox have been patient with left-handed starters. We spoke about the two Angeles starters, but they’ve walked at least 2 times against a left-handed starter in 6 of 8 games. The 2 misses came against Jeffrey Springs who only went 3 innings due to an injury and Jalen Beeks who pitched only 2 innings.

Kyle Wright (ATL) Under 5.5 hits allowed (-135)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Kyle Wright’s first start did not go to plan. He walked 4 batters in 3 innings and his velocity was down a tick from last season. Cause for concern? Maybe. But, with this market, there are a ton of outs to win. Sandoval and Sean Manaea cashed for us on Friday night because they got into deep counts with hitters and either put them on base via base-on balls or a flyout.

The Kansas City Royals are no gimmie. They’ve hit well the past few games against quality right-handed starters but for the year they rank in the bottom 5 in batting average against right-handed pitching. Sunday baseball can be weird with guys getting a rest day, so be on the lookout for a Royals lineup that looks different.

Wright stayed under this line in his first start and 20/31 starts last season. Look for him to regain his momentum from last season, go for the sweep of the Royals, and cash our 3rd and final MLB player prop bet.
