Happy 4th of July, Pickswise Nation! America is celebrating its Independence Day, and there’s no better way to spend the day than winning a few bets. I’ve analyzed the busy MLB slate today and have come up with my 2 best MLB player prop bets to lock in. Let’s get right into it, but make sure you also read our MLB picks for today’s big matchups.

Ben Lively (CLE) to record a win (+100)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The Guardians are the biggest favorite on the board today. That shouldn’t come as a surprise since Cleveland is starting Ben Lively while the White Sox have decided to convert reliever Jared Shuster into a starter. Shuster was a part of the Braves’ rotation last year but didn’t last long with a 5.81 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 11 starts. He was shipped off to the Southside of Chicago and has been in the bullpen ever since. However, the White Sox have decided to experiment and see Shuster back in the rotation. I’m expecting him to only go 3-4 innings which should be enough time to take advantage of his .291 xBA and weak 14.5% strikeout rate. On the other side, the Guardians are starting Ben Lively, who has become a crucial part of Cleveland’s rotation. He’s earned the win in 6 of his last 8 starts and has limited hitters to a .222 xBA in those 8 outings. Take Lively to record a win today.

Tobias Myers (MIL) to record a win (+140)

Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Fireworks will be happening all across the country today, and we might even see some in Colorado from the Milwaukee bats. Cal Quantrill has become the ace of the Rockies staff with a 3.78 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 17 starts, but he’s started to look vulnerable in recent weeks. After throwing back-to-back shutouts against the Cardinals and Twins, he has been smashed for 11 runs, 21 hits and 4 home runs in his last 16.1 innings. He’s allowing a .309 batting average and .280 xBA in that 3-game span, so I like Milwaukee’s chances of keeping the trend going. Countering Quantrill will be Tobias Myers, a rookie who has done really well in his limited opportunities this year. He owns a 3.26 ERA and 21.7% strikeout rate in 12 appearances, and more importantly, he’s taken the win in 4 of his last 5 starts. At this good of a price, Myers looks worth every penny.
