The NFL is doubling your pleasure and doubling your fun with not one but two Monday Night Football games in Week 2. Up first is a battle in the NFC South between the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. It should be an intriguing contest between two teams with new guys at quarterback: veteran Derek Carr for New Orleans and 2023 #1 overall pick Bryce Young for Carolina.

Who will find the end zone on Monday night? Let’s take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets to be made, and also make sure to check out our full Saints vs Panthers picks.

Jamaal Williams, RB, New Orleans Saints (+135 at FanDuel)

Jamaal Williams led the entire NFL in rushing touchdowns last season while dominating opposing defenses for Detroit. Now with New Orleans, he was kept out of the end zone in Week 1 against Tennessee. I don’t think it’s going to happen twice in a row. Williams got 18 carries in the season opener and nobody else in the backfield got more than 3. Alvin Kamara is still suspended for 2 more games, so Williams’ significant workload will almost certainly continue.

He now faces a Carolina team that gave up 2 rushing TDs to Tyler Allgeier last weekend, both inside the 5-yard line. Atlanta finished with 130 yards on the ground, averaging 5.0 yards per attempt. I’m expecting a big day for Williams both in terms of yardage and at least one score.

Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers (+550 at FanDuel)

The Saints quite simply boast a very good defense, which means Young may have to do some improvisational work on Monday night. Hayden Hurst was the rookie’s favorite target in Week 1, but New Orleans allowed the fewest fantasy points to tight ends in the league last year and this past weekend against Tennessee the defense yielded zero catches to TEs on 2 targets.

In 2022 the Saints surrendered the sixth-most rushing yards to opposing QBs in addition to 4 touchdown runs by that position. Young ran for 7 scores in his final 2 seasons at Alabama, including 185 yards and 4 TDs last year. At +550, Young has good value to keep it himself and reach paydirt.
