NFL Week 1 best bet to make with BetMGM: Falcons -3.5 over Panthers (-110)

Week 1 of the new NFL season includes an enticing NFC South showdown as the Atlanta Falcons prepare to host the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are ushering in new chapters, featuring young quarterbacks at the helm, which could lead to some inevitable growing pains. However, it appears that these growing pains might affect the Panthers more early in the season, which could give the Falcons -3.5 some value.

Starting with the Panthers, quarterback Bryce Young starts his NFL career with a tough road game down in Atlanta. Meanwhile, the Falcons’ Desmond Ridder gained valuable experience with a few starts towards the end of last season, and has now had 2 full offseasons to get his bearings. The Falcons have quietly assembled a promising crop of young talent on both offense and defense. Expect big leaps from pass catchers Kyle Pitts and Drake London in 2023. Notably, Atlanta made some under-the-radar acquisitions on the defensive side, adding key players such as Calais Campbell, David Onyemata and Jessie Bates to bolster their ranks. Arthur Smith came close to guiding the Falcons to a division title last season despite facing significant challenges with inconsistent quarterback play from Marcus Mariota.

Overall, the Falcons feel a lot more stable this season and have a lot of exciting young talent on their roster, and that should show in this opening game against the Panthers. I think the Falcons can be a surprise package this NFL season and that should hopefully start on Sunday. I’m taking Atlanta -3.5.
