I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. NHL Parlay Picks (4/9)

Rangers -1.5 (+175)

Capitals vs Red Wings Over 6 (-105)

Kings -1.5  (+100)

NHL parlay odds: +973

New York Rangers -1.5 over New York Islanders (+175)

The last time the New York Rangers were on the ice, they came through by taking down the Montreal Canadiens by multiple goals. While that isn’t exactly the most difficult competition in the world, Artemi Panarin and company still have plenty of motivation left despite being atop the Metropolitan Division. Their 110 points has them in pole position for the 2024 Presidents’ Trophy, but it is far from locked up. As if that wasn’t enough, of course, this is the classic Battle of New York.

The Rangers and Islanders’ featured Stadium Series game was one of the best of the entire season back in February, which featured the Rangers coming back from down 4-1 and 5-3 to force overtime, and ultimately win by a 6-5 final score. Admittedly, the Islanders have been hot recently, as they are trying to earn a postseason spot. However, the Rangers have now beaten them twice in the past 2 months, with the most recent coming by a 3-goal margin. Therefore, they’re the first leg of our NHL parlay picks for today.

Washington Capitals vs Detroit Red Wings Over 6 (-105)

Speaking of Eastern Conference teams in the race for one of the last playoff spots, we have a crucial clash between 2 of them — the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings. Although in different divisions, they are both focused on earning a Wild Card spot, and the Caps are reeling in a big way. They have now lost 6 straight games, falling a point behind both the Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins. Meanwhile, Detroit also came through for our NHL parlay picks the last time they were on the ice, beating the Buffalo Sabres by multiple goals.

However, we’d rather not have to trust either of these middle-of-the-road teams tonight, and will instead root for goals. They’ve split their first 2 meetings of the season — both of them went over the total, including 11 total goals the last time this matchup was in the Motor City. The other was as recently as 2 weeks ago, so we’re willing to trust the trend to continue. Whether it’s Alex Ovechkin in his chase to Wayne Gretzky’s goal record finding the back of the net or another all-time great in Patrick Kane, expect plenty of goals in this game.

Los Angeles Kings -1.5 over Anaheim Ducks (+100)

We’re headed out to the West Coast to round out our NHL parlay picks for today with a Pacific Division matchup. Notice that we didn’t label it as a rivalry, as the Anaheim Ducks haven’t been strong enough to rival anyone the past few seasons. As for the Los Angeles Kings, they’d prefer to earn a top-3 spot in the Pacific rather than being a Wild Card team. They have to fend off the defending Stanley Cup-champion Vegas Golden Knights to do so, but they’ve been a strong road team this year, going 22-14-4.

Even if they weren’t, Anaheim is just down the road, and again, the Ducks don’t pose the biggest threat. LA has won both matchups this season, with the one on the road coming by 3 goals. They’re also in great form down this home stretch of the season, going 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Ducks are 2-6-2 in that same time frame, most recently losing back-to-back home games. With all that in mind, the Kings finish off our NHL parlay picks for today.
