Best player prop for Monday's NHL slate: Ovi eyes history
Monday gives us 3 games on the NHL schedule. The 2 games at 7:00 ET feature the Florida Panthers visiting Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres taking on the Washington Capitals. The third and final game of the night gets going at 7:30 ET as the Los Angeles Kings face the Toronto Maple Leafs. While it is a small slate, it is sure to be entertaining. That entertainment can be enhance with a little prop betting.
I have a player prop in mind for tonight’s action, and I will share that here. Along with this article, be sure to check out our full game previews for each matchup tonight. You can also follow Pickswise and myself on Twitter for NHL betting content throughout the season.
Alexander Ovechkin anytime goal scorer (-110)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing
Alexander Ovechkin refuses to age and is the biggest catalyst for Washington’s high-scoring offense. The Caps are 6th in the league in scoring, averaging 3.36 goals per game. Ovechkin is a big reason why, as he is leading the way with 10 goals in 11 games. He did not find the back of the net on Saturday against the Flyers, but he has not gone back-to-back games without a goal yet this season. We know Ovechkin is not shy about letting it rip, as he is averaging nearly 5 shots per game this season and has 18 shots on goal over his last 3 games. He seems to have a favorable matchup tonight against a Buffalo team that has allowed 14 goals over their last 3 games. Ovechkin has 35 goals in 56 career games against the Sabres. There is also some history on the line tonight. Ovechkin has 740 goals in 1,208 career games, one behind Brett Hull for fourth all-time. Look for Ovi to have an aggressive mindset yet again tonight as he goes for career goal number 741.
