Elias Pettersson over 2.5 shots on goal (-118)

After an underwhelming performance on Saturday night, Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks are looking for a rebound game. Pettersson is one of the best young talents in the league. In some rankings of the top NHL players under 25 years old, some have him ranked as high as third, just below McDavid and Matthews. He’s that good. In his first two games this season he had six shots in each, after a one-shot performance in Saturday night’s loss he knows he needs to be better if his team has any chance of winning. Over 2.5 shots seems pretty low considering his first two games this year.

13 shots thru three games should provide some reassurance for bettors here. He missed more than half the season last year, but in the 26 games, he played he averaged just under 3 shots per game. Expect a bounce-back game from Pettersson here, take over 2.5 shots.

Steven Stamkos over 2.5 shots on goal (-133)

With the Lightning’s best player Nikita Kucherov ruled out for the foreseeable future, Captain Steven Stamkos will see himself with more responsibility. Stamkos has already collected 7 points in 3 games, he’s started off as one of the best players in the league this season. Additionally, he has 10 shots on goal in that stretch, including 9 shots in his last two games. With Kucherov out, 2.5 shots on goal might be considered a must bet tonight. He’s been averaging more than three minutes of ice time on the powerplay this season, and with Kucherov missing on the opposite wing, Stammer will become the go to shooter on the powerplay. Take over 2.5 shots for Stamkos tonight.

Connor McDavid over 0.5 goals (-105)

McDavid is already off to an incredible start to the season with five points (three goals and two assists) in just two games. He’s coming off a hattrick against his provincial rivals and will be looking to carry that over into his matchup with the Anaheim Ducks tonight. The Ducks are playing the tail end of a back-to-back (that went into OT), which already puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to playing against the fastest player in the league. McDavid has been working a lot on his slap shot this offseason which has made him even more of a scoring threat on the powerplay. A once pass-first guy, it looks like he’ll be chasing down the Rocket Richard trophy this season.

He has 10 shots in two games, he’s actively looking for those goals. Additionally, McDavid has been playing more than 23 minutes a night. His above-average ice time for a forward will create difficult matchups for the Ducks who could be playing catchup all night. Take McDavid to get a goal in this game.
