Best sportsbook promotions and odds boosts for Thursday: MLB, College Football, Tennis

We have put together a list of all of the day’s best odds boosts, which happen to be from DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, PointsBet Sportsbook and BetMGM Sportsbook today. We’ll discuss whether or not they are worth playing. Let’s dive in.

Patrick Wisdom to hit a HR – Boosted from +250 to +300 with DraftKings Sportsbook

Wisdom has been hot recently with a couple of multi-home run games, and DraftKings is letting bettors chase that momentum here. He’s one of the lone remaining bright spots on a Cubs offense that traded away most of their best players.  A bet at +300 only needs to cash 25 percent of the time to be profitable, and Wisdom has homered 25 times in 85 games this year. When you throw in the fact that he’s facing Mitch Keller and his 6.75 ERA, I don’t hate this one. We’ve also got the Cubs as one of our ‘MLB Best Bets‘ on Thursday.

Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays to both win – Boosted from +155 to +200 with FanDuel Sportsbook

The Braves just got swept by the Dodgers, and if you think they’ll snap out of their funk in Colorado this might be the odds boost for you. You’ll also need Tampa to keep up their recent hot play against the Red Sox. We like the Rays a lot, but we think the Rockies have a lot of value as a home underdog, so we’ll be passing on this one.

Pete Alonso to record 2+ hits – Boosted from +220 to +300 with FanDuel Sportsbook

Wrapping up the baseball boosts with this one in the Marlins/Mets game. Miami will send out rookie Zach Thompson to start here, who has been a bit shaky lately. Alonso has recorded multiple hits in five of his past 11 games, so you could do a lot worse than this one on Thursday. I kind of like it.

Ohio State to score first and record 50+ points– Boosted from +650 to +700 with DraftKings Sportsbook

This is a fun one as Week 1 of the college football slate officially gets underway with some big games. Thursday’s most highly anticipated showdown is this Big Ten matchup between Ohio State and Minnesota. As a 14-point favorite the Buckeyes will likely be scoring first, but 50 points just seems a bit much for a Big Ten game. Even at +700 I’m not too interested.

Ohio State & Tennessee to both score 40+ – Boosted from +125 to +180 with FanDuel Sportsbook

Tennessee also makes their 2021 debut on Thursday. Unlike Ohio State they aren’t starting with a conference game, they’re opening against Bowling Green. The Volunteers haven’t been too impressive in recent years, so there’s no way I could bank on them to drop 40 here.
