College basketball Wednesday parlay at mega (+1495) odds today 1/11: Horns up

Texas Longhorns forward Timmy Allen (0) reacts after a play against the Oklahoma State Cowboys during the second half at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

It’s a stacked slate in college basketball as 12 of the top 25 teams are taking the court tonight. With so many exciting games, I’ve found a few edges that I believe can create a parlay with an excellent payout. Let’s take a look at my 3-team mega parlay for Wednesday, but make sure you also check out our college basketball picks for tonight’s biggest games.

Pittsburgh ML (+280)

Pittsburgh ML (+280) over Duke

On Wednesday night, Pittsburgh (11-5) will travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on #24 Duke (12-4). The Panthers are currently tied for second in the ACC with a 4-1 record in conference play despite beginning the season ranked 14th of 15 ACC teams in the preseason polls without a single player on the preseason first or second-round teams. Jeff Capel, a former associate head coach at Duke, has guided his team to victories over NC State, Syracuse, previous #25 North Carolina, and #13 Virginia – each victory coming as the underdog.

Duke, meanwhile, has disappointed. The Blue Devils have fallen well short of preseason expectations. The team of John Scheyer was defeated by NC State in its very next away game, falling by 24 points as 4.5-point favorites, after being humiliated by Wake Forest, losing by 11 points as 6.5-point favorites. Duke is coming off of a 1-point win over Boston College, but don’t let that fool you. Boston College is not a good basketball team. Pittsburgh is catching Duke during a slide, and I think they have the chance to complete the upset on Wednesday.

Marquette ML (+112) over UConn

Going against the #6 team in the country is never an easy decision. After a 14-0 start, UConn has suffered losses to Xavier on New Year’s Eve and a 73-61 loss at Providence on January 4 which brought the team back down to earth. Their schedule won’t get any easier as they travel to Marquette to face the #25 ranked Golden Eagles who are hungry for an upset. Since losing in overtime to Providence on December 20 (103-98), the Golden Eagles have won and covered in 4 straight games, including part of their 6-1 ATS run in their last 7 games. Despite UConn’s dominance this season, it’s hard to pass up Marquette being an underdog at home. This is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that their team is legitimate, so as a short underdog, I’ll take their money line for the second leg of this parlay.

Texas -7.5 (-102) over TCU

Look away TCU fans, your sports teams are in for a tough week. After their football team was destroyed in the CFB National Championship on Monday, the Horned Frogs basketball team will take the floor against Texas on Wednesday. Although the score might not be as far apart as Monday’s football game, I still expect a big loss for TCU. In their 56-46 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday, the Longhorns’ elite defense was the story of the game. They only allowed Oklahoma State to score 46 points while limiting them to shoot 28.6 percent from outside the arc.

Since the Horned Frogs are among the poorest three-point shooting teams in the nation, I anticipate them to do it again here against TCU. As for the Texas offense, they have been effective this season on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court, ranking in the top 23 in both categories, so I anticipate them to continue this trend on their home court.
