I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. Unfortunately football season is in the rearview mirror, but basketball and hockey are in full swing and baseball is right around the corner. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are some big contests coming up, which always create some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the books, with the Bulls leading the way on Monday.

NBA: Bulls -4 at Kings

An Eastern Conference contender against the lowly Kings? That’s almost always going to be a recipe for a big public side, and that’s certainly the case here on Monday. 84 percent of the bet tickets are laying the points with Chicago on the road in Sacramento, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.

What makes this one very interesting though is that only 49 percent of the public money is on the Bulls. The handle is virtually evenly split, which means there have been some large volume bets on the Kings. Perhaps they’re the ‘sharp’ side here as a home ‘dog. Looking for a big payday for the NBA’s big 10-game slate? We’ve cooked up a mega parlay that has odds of +1064!

NBA: Nuggets at 76ers over 220.5

Nothing the public loves more than a good over. Especially for a big nationally televised game. So it’s only fitting that bettors will be rooting for lots of points in the most highly anticipated matchup of the day between the Nuggets and 76ers. 85 percent of the bets and 80 percent of the public money are on the over 220.5 here.

Almost any time there’s a game with a lot of star-power, bettors are going to gravitate toward the over. And with reigning MVP Nikola Jokic along with James Harden and Joel Embiid in this one, it’s not shocking that the public wants as much excitement as possible. Check out our full game preview for Nuggets vs 76ers to see if our expert agrees.

NCAAB: #12 Indiana -4 at #12 Wyoming

Shifting our attention from pro hoops to college hoops now. The NCAA Tournament is right around the corner, so make sure to keep an eye on our March Madness hub for everything we’ve got coming. For right now we can focus our attention on the First Four games, which start on Tuesday. And for this #12/#12 play-in tournament matchup, bettors strongly prefer Indiana.

86 percent of the bets and 89 percent of the public money are on the Hoosiers -4 here. Indiana ended their season by upsetting Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament and then nearly stunning Iowa in the semifinals, so that’s what is freshest in everyone’s minds here. Head over to our NCAAB page to see our picks for all the March Madness games.

NHL: Coyotes at Senators over 6.0

Wrapping things up with some hockey now. See what I mean about the public and their overs? There’s only one NHL game on the board on Monday, and naturally bettors are leaning toward the over for it. 62 percent of the bets and a whopping 88 percent of the public money are on the over 6.0 for Coyotes @ Senators.

The gap between those two percentages indicates that the large volume bets have been on the over as well. These two teams just played each other a couple weeks ago and the final score was 8-5 in that one, which could be influencing these splits. Make sure to check out our free picks on the side and total for all NHL games tonight before making your wagers.
