Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. It’s that special time of year when most of the major sports are in action. It’s a lot, and we’re grateful for it. There are plenty of crucial contests coming up, which always attract some big public sides. Let’s take a look at where the public money is going as bettors once again try to beat the ‘books, with the Warriors leading the way on Monday.

NFL: MNF – Patriots vs Bills

Before we get to the Warriors, it’s worth taking a look at Monday Night Football. Interestingly, there isn’t really a public side in this game. Bet splits on the 2.5-point point spread are nearly dead even. Over 41 is getting 76 percent of the bet tickets, per DraftKings’ internal numbers shared with us.

But the over is only getting 57 percent of the handle, meaning some of the larger volume bets have come in on the under. On the money line, 62 percent of the bets and 61 percent of the public money are on New England at +120. Be sure to check out our same game parlay for the occasion, with +1870 odds!

NBA: Warriors -16 vs Magic

Turning our attention to the NBA now. There are a few teams each year in every sport that the public likes to latch onto and ride all the way to the finish line. The Warriors certainly appear to be one this year. Expect them to be a staple of this column moving forward, as Golden State is officially back. The public money is going to be even more lopsided when they are playing a team like the Magic.

Accordingly, they are the heaviest public NBA side on Monday — with 75 percent of the bets and 86 percent of the handle laying a whopping 16 points with the Warriors. Check out my NBA Monday mega parlay (+1379 odds) to find out which side of this game I’m on!

NBA: Nuggets @ Bulls over 217

Nothing the public loves more than a good over, right? The Warriors are the big public side of Monday, and this is the big public total of the slate. The over is getting absolutely hammered in this game between the Nuggets and Bulls. A total of 80 percent of the bets and 93 percent of the public money are on the over 217.

Bettors often gravitate toward the over for the biggest games, and this is easily the marquee matchup of the slate, so it’s not too surprising to see. Chicago’s new-look offense is heating up, and they are averaging 121 points per game over their last three. We’re on the over, as well, and we got it at 214 before it moved, so it pays to check Pickswise early!

NHL: Avalanche @ Flyers over 6.5

See what I mean about the public and their overs? It’s not just the NBA where bettors like to root for lots of excitement. NHL fans want to see fast-paced action, as well. This total for the game between the Avalanche and Flyers is already pretty high at 6.5, but that isn’t scaring anybody away. A total of 87 percent of the bets and 95 percent of the public money are going over that number.

The Flyers’ defense has been atrocious recently, and they gave up seven goals to the Lightning their last time out. They just fired their coach, so maybe that’ll spark their offense. The Avalanche have also been playing in a ton of high scoring games recently, so again this one isn’t hard to understand. Make sure to check out all our free expert picks for today’s NHL action!
