It’s knockout time at the soccer World Cup, supposedly a meeting of the finest nations left standing, yet France and Poland couldn’t be heading into their showdown in a more downbeat mood. The French and Polish teams have had 4 days to get over dismal defeats by Tunisia and Argentina respectively, and now have a chance to prove they’ve got what it takes to make the last 8.

While the mood may be gloomy in both locker rooms, we can try to put a smile on your face with a France vs Poland Same Game Parlay, which is available at +387 odds with FanDuel Sportsbook.

France -1 goal spread (-115)

Over 5.5 France corners (-230)

Under 4.5 cards (-128)

Same Game Parlay odds: +387

Let’s check out the reasoning behind each of our selections:

France -1 goal spread (-115)

France is a far better team than limited Poland and should demonstrate the gulf in talent between the squads by recording a win of at least 2 clear goals. The world champions looked great in their first 2 games, easily beating Australia and seeing off a decent Denmark side. They made a lot of lineup changes for the final group game against Tunisia and lost 1-0, but the first-choice team led by Kylian Mbappe will be back for this contest.

Poland was dreadful in its final group game against Argentina, and a poor display in a 2-0 loss almost cost the Poles a place in the round of 16. They have already been shut out twice and their superstar striker Robert Lewandowski looks isolated and frustrated. I’ll take France -1 to cover the spread and get our parlay started.

Over 5.5 France corners (-230)

In France’s 3 games at this World Cup, the number of corners taken have been 8, 6 and 8. If we know anything about the French it’s that they like to get the ball forward, and Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele love to get to the byline, which results in plenty of corners from blocked and deflected crosses.

Les Bleus are also a huge threat from set-plays with striker Olivier Giroud in the middle to get his head on crosses. France should be expected to do all the pressing against a Poland team who have generally sat back so far and the corner count should rise.

Under 4.5 cards (-128)

France and Poland have been on their best behavior so far in Qatar and there’s no reason to think that won’t still be the case even allowing for the stakes being raised on Sunday. France, incredibly, has picked up just 1 yellow card in 3 games, and got none against Tunisia even when it had to chase and harry to try to get back into a game they lost 1-0.

The Poles have picked up only 5 yellows across 3 games despite having to put in plenty of tackles in a tricky defensive stand against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
