Horse Racing picks at Del Mar race track on Saturday, November 27: Sumo will wrestle a win over the field

Jockey Leslie Mawing atop Highwaytwentyseven (5) wins the second race of the day as the Tampa Bay Downs

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Del Mar race track. We have been crushing our horse picks for several months now (up 194.85 units dating back to Aug. 5). We also hit a 6/1 winner last Friday, picked three winners in five races on Saturday, and picked two winners out of two races on Sunday, and two winners in three races on Thanksgiving. Let’s maintain the momentum!

Here are five runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

4:00 pm Del Mar (Race 2) – Little Miss Ellie 6/5

Appeared to appreciate the switch to a starter optional claimer when finishing runner-up, beaten a length in a six furlong contest at Santa Anita at the end of last month. Extra half-furlong here is no issue having placed second over a mile at Santa Anita in early June. Comes into this contest on the back of a solid 48 second four furlong work at Santa Anita and she can take this with Kent Desormeaux booked for the ride.

5:02 pm Del Mar (Race 4) – Miss Alegria 9/5

Boasts a good record at this venue winning two of her three starts at this venue including a claiming contest over six-and-one-half-furlongs back in July. Has disappointed in two subsequent starts away from this venue with both coming in starter allowance races most recently when fifth at Santa Anita at the end of last month. The return to claiming company is a positive and back at this track she can provide trainer Peter Miller with a winner.

5:32 pm Del Mar (Race 5) – Sacred Life 8/5

Has demonstrated good form since switching to the USA from France winning three times with the most recent of those coming in the Grade 3 Knickerbocker Stakes over a mile-and-one-eighth at Belmont Park last month. Raced from off the pace that day getting up late on to record his first victory since August last year and Chad Brown’s charge looks capable of completing a double by going better than when finishing runner-up in this race two years ago.

6:02 pm Del Mar (Race 6) – Awesome Taylor 2/1

Peter Miller’s charge displayed plenty of ability when finishing a good half-length second in a maiden claiming contest over six furlongs when making her debut at the end of last month. Raced in fourth on that occasion and had to give best to a more experienced rival she is likely to have improved for that effort and is taken to get off the mark at the second time of asking stepping up in distance following a 1:02 five furlong breeze.

7:00 pm Del Mar (Race 8) – Sumo 5/2

Delivered an improved effort when winning two lengths having made much of the running in a Los Alamitos maiden special weight over six furlongs in September. Appeared to handle the step up to allowance optional claiming company when racing close to the pace prior to finishing runner-up over the same trip here earlier this month. Has a top jockey in the saddle in Flavien Prat and the son of Not This Time is taken to record a second success.
