Since graduating from Davidson (The College That Stephen Curry Built), I have been writing about sports -- just about any and all you can think of! -- and coaching tennis in Atlanta, GA. Beyond the four major sports, I am an avid tennis fan and cover the ATP Tour on a daily basis. If I'm not busy writing, you can generally find me on a tennis court or traveling the world wherever a sporting event takes me. For Ricky Dimon media enquiries, please email contact@pickswise.com.

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Santa Anita. Here are four runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

6:17 pm Santa Anita (Race 5) – Charette +350

Race 5 at Santa Anita is a $40,000 Claiming contest for Fillies and Mares over a mile on the turf and it’s the John Sadler trained Charette who can land the spoils. This five-year-old mare has three victories and two second place finishes to her name from fourteen starts with her three wins coming in Maiden Claiming, Claiming and Allowance Optional Claiming company in June 2019. She has been lightly raced since having only had four more starts, albeit without winning, but she has more than enough ability to win this and can go well from a nice draw in stall one.

6:40 pm Santa Anita (Race 6) – Keep It Classy +300

Keep It Classy has yet to win a race but she has been knocking on the door in recent starts and now looks set to shed that maiden tag in Race 6 at Santa Anita. Both of her last two starts have resulted in two second place finishes over this course and distance and it’s only a matter of time before she takes one of these races. She is drawn in stall two for this $22,000 Maiden Claiming contest which will be an ideal position for her to strike from so I wouldn’t want to be backing against her here.

7:24 pm Santa Anita (Race 7) – It’s Fitting +1500

The penultimate race at Santa Anita is a tricky looking $28,000 Starter Optional Claimer over a mile on the turf surface and it may be worth taking a chance on an outsider in the shape of the Californian Bred It’s Fitting. This Chestnut gelding won on debut at Del Mar in August 2019 and, although he hasn’t won since, he has been running well with a couple of third placed efforts to his name. He has plenty of course experience having had four starts here and he can strike on his first start in this company against a weak looking field.

7:54 Santa Anita (Race 8) – Promise Nothing +400

The final race at Santa Anita is a $24,000 Claiming event which looks to be an open looking race and I like the look of Andrew Lerner’s Promise Nothing. This gelding is so consistent having either won or been placed on many occasions so far in his twenty race career and, in a race that does have that open look about it, I want to be siding with a horse who knows his way around here and will give you 110% and that’s what this boy will do.
