1:36 pm Belmont at the Big A (Race 2) – Get The Candy 5/2 (2-star play)

Michael Maker’s mare delivered a one-and-a-half-length victory when making all the running in a 5-furlong handicap at Gulfstream Park in April. The Twirling Candy mare has gone on to finish fourth in 2 of her 3 subsequent starts including in a minor stakes event at Lone Star Park. The selection comes here on the back of a four-and-a-quarter-length fourth in a five-and-a-half-furlong allowance optional claimer at Colonial Downs and is taken to record her fifth career win.

4:17 pm Belmont at the Big A (Race 7) – Hatch 7/5 (2-star play)

The four-year-old has performed successfully at a higher level in the past, including when placing third over 6 furlongs on turf in a $30,000 claiming contest at Belmont Park in June. The gelding has made just the 2 subsequent appearances, including when 7 lengths fifth in a $25,000 claimer over 7 furlongs at Saratoga at the start of the month. The drop in grade here is in his favor and he looks up to scoring under Manny Franco.

4:49 pm Belmont at the Big A (Race 8) – Film Star 7/5 (2-star play)

The son of Flatter placed second in each of his first 5 starts for the Linda Rice barn, having joined the handler following a victory in a $75,000 claimer at Keeneland in April. That includes a second when trying to make all at Saratoga on his penultimate start. The 4-year-old went on to record his first victory for the handler when triumphing by two-and-three-quarter-lengths in a mile-and-one-eighth allowance at Saratoga and he is taken to follow up.
