Horse Racing picks for Belmont at the Big A on Sunday, October 2: Cross the Ocean Atlantique

Shown good form in two starts since a gelding operation following up a second place finish when beaten a head in a mile allowance optional claimer at Saratoga in August with a half-length fourth under similar tactics upped to a mile-and-one-sixteenth just over a month later. Top jockey Luis Saez, on board for both of those efforts keeps the ride and the five-year-old is selected to register a first victory since joining the Michael Maker barn last year.

Demonstrated good form in Europe including when placed in Group 3 company in Ireland in May last year. Made the perfect start to her time with Brendan Walsh when winning a mile-and-one-sixteenth allowance at Churchill Downs at the end of May. Placed twice in Graded company since including when runner-up in the mile-and-one-eighth Grade 2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine in August. Good form in the mornings since and is expected to record a victory on her first New York start.

Purchased for $135,000 as a two-year-old at the two-year-old’s in training sale at Ocala in March the son of Cloud Computing delivered a three-and-three-quarter-length victory when making his debut in a mile-and-one-sixteenth maiden special weight at Saratoga in August. Ridden with restraint in the early stages that day the colt drew three-and-three-quarter-lengths clear of his rivals in the stretch. Taken to stay unbeaten stepping up in class for a trainer who has won this race three times in the past.
