Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at the Belmont at the Big A meeting.

2:09 pm ET Belmont at the Big A (Race 3) – Shadow Dragon 9/5 (2-star play)

Shadow Dragon delivered some promising efforts in graded company earlier this year, including when three-quarters-of-a-length 2nd in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes over an extended mile at Gulfstream Park in early February.

The gelding has yet to score since but ran well when runner-up in a similar race to this over a mile at Belmont Park in July. Given a break since a 4th place over 9 furlongs at Saratoga subsequently, he is taken to register a victory.

2:38 pm ET Belmont at the Big A (Race 4) – Three Rivers 7/5 (2-star play)

Bill Mott’s filly Three Rivers has shown plenty of ability in her 2 starts to date, including when scoring by 1.75 lengths in a 6-furlong maiden special weight at Belmont Park in June. The daughter of American Pharoah followed up when victorious by 5 lengths in an allowance contest over the same distance at Saratoga in August.

The 3-year-old shapes as if this extra distance will suit and with Junior Alvarado up she looks capable of maintaining her unbeaten record.

3:10 pm ET Belmont at the Big A (Race 5) – Gala Brand 3/1 (2-star play)

The daughter of Violence has impressed in 2 starts at Saratoga, with the first of those seeing the youngster break her maiden by 2.25 lengths in a 5.5-furlong maiden at the start of August.

The step up in distance and grade proved no issue for Bill Mott’s representative when she followed up in the Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes over an extended mile on a good turf track subsequently. She is capable of registering a third win in as many starts.
