Horse Racing picks for Churchill Downs race track on Sunday, June 12: Cyberknife can cut through the field

Medina Spirit and jockey John Velazquez, right, pull ahead of Mandaloun and jockey Florent Geroux in the final stretch in the Running of the 147th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

There is plenty of great horse racing across America today, including at Churchill Downs race track. We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now and yesterday we had 3 winners at Belmont Park including Belmont Stakes hero Mo Donegal! We are now up +295.2 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Churchill Downs.

1:14 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 2) – Pretty Birdie 4/5 (3-star play)

A winner at Grade 3 level when taking the 6-furlong Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga as a juvenile, this Bird Song filly demonstrated good form when attempting to make all prior to finishing 2 1/4 lengths 2nd to Saturday’s Acorn Stakes winner Matareya in the Grade 2 Eight Belles Stakes over this course and distance last month.

She had Wicked Halo behind her that day and looks capable of confirming that form with similar tactics expected from trainer Norman W Casse’s charge.

2:45 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 5) – The Mary Rose 9/5 (2-star play)

The Mary Rose proved a disappointment in a mile and 1/16th stakes event at Turfway Park at the start of April, but left that effort well behind when making all the running prior to asserting in the straight to record a near 10-length victory in the mile state-bred Natural State Breeders’ Stakes at Oaklawn Park last month.

The extra 1/16th of a mile here is no issue and the 5-year-old daughter of Macho Uno looks up to recording her 7th win in 20 career starts.

4:22 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 8) – Cyberknife 8/5 (2-star play)

Cyberknife showed plenty of promise on the Derby trail in the spring, following up an allowance optional claiming success at Fair Grounds with an impressive 2 3/4 length success in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby over a mile and 1/8th at Oaklawn Park at the start of April.

He proved a disappointment in the Kentucky Derby itself, finishing 18th in a 20-horse field, but looks up to getting his career back on track following a 1:01 5-furlong work at Churchill Downs earlier this month.
