Dallas Stewart’s charge showed good form in maiden special weight company earlier this year including when scoring by half a length over this trip in a 9-runner contest in August. She was a fair 4th in a 6-furlong allowance at this track the following month prior to a below-par last of 7 upped to a mile at Churchill Downs 2 weeks ago.
The drop in trip and grade are both in her favour today and the daughter of Lord Nelson looks capable of doubling her career tally.
2:28 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 4) – Yono 2/1 (2-star play)
Yono performed well when finishing 3rd, beaten 4 3/4 lengths in a $20,000 claimer over a mile and 1/16th at this track on his penultimate start. He ran below that form on his sole start for Richard Estvanko when dropped to 6 1/2 furlongs and 4th in a $30,000 claimer at Keeneland subsequently.
He shapes as if he is worth a try at this distance and the son of Quality Road is selected to score stepped down markedly in grade following a 1:03.65 5-furlong work at Highpoint Farm and Training Center.
4:57 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 9) – Scarlet Stripe 5/2 (2-star play)
Scarlet Stripe is improving with racing, building on a good 2nd-place finish when beaten 3/4 length over 6 furlongs at Churchill Downs at the start of October when making all the running to deliver a 4 1/2 length success in a maiden special weight over 6 1/2 furlongs at Keeneland just under a month ago.
She shapes as if the extra half-furlong she gets today will suit and the daughter of Gun Runner looks up to completing a double with Tyler Gaffalione, on board for all 3 of her previous starts, booked.
