2:30 pm Delaware Park (Race 5) – Old Bay 5/2 (2-star play)

Race 5 at Delaware Park is a Maiden Claiming contest over an extended 5 furlongs on the dirt course and I like the filly drawn on the outside, Old Bay, who can make it third time lucky for Mark Shuman and his team. She has finished second in both starts so far and will be very tough to beat if replicating her latest effort where she was finishing very strongly here last month.

3:00 pm Delaware Park (Race 6) – Island Belle 8/1 (1-star play)

A field of 10 fillies and mares are set to go to post for this competitive Claiming event in which My Cajun Lady and South Pacific are likely to be strongly fancied, but willing runner Island Belle can have a say in this. Luis Castro’s mount is well drawn in post 4 and has shown enough ability to be able to hit the board at enticing odds.

3:30 pm Delaware Park (Race 7) – Stern Chaser 9/5 (2-star play)

Michael Matz has a nice horse in the shape of Stern Chaser and this daughter of Astern will be very tough to beat in this $38,500 Allowance. She is an unexposed filly who ran a great race behind a nice horse in Eidikos at Laurel Park last time out and the general feeling is that she is better than these.

4:00 pm Delaware Park (Race 8) – Play Hard 4/1 (2-star play)

The finale at Delaware Park is an open looking Maiden Claimer, with Word Hard looking like the one they all have to beat — but one who can topple the likely favorite is the Gary Capuano-trained Play Hard. His sire, Mastery, was a Grade 1 winner as a 2-year-old and this colt will find this task easier than his recent third in a Maiden Special Weight so a bold his is expected.
