12:49 pm ET Parx (Race 3) – Sweet Fury 8/5 (2-star play)

Sweet Fury has demonstrated ability in 7 starts, finishing on the board on 6 occasions. She disappointed when fading into 5th, beaten 10 1/2 lengths in a 6-furlong maiden special weight at this venue last month, but had previously placed 2nd in a similar contest over this distance.

The return to this trip is a positive, as is a draw two off the rail and Silvestre Gonzalez’s mount looks capable of registering her first victory as she drops to a $40,000 maiden claimer.

1:43 pm ET Parx (Race 5) – Pelota 6/5 (2-star play)

Pelota has performed well at this venue in the past, winning once and finishing on the board 3 times from his 6 starts there. He was sent off a short favourite when 10 1/2 lengths 2nd over  6 1/2 furlongs there 2 weeks ago.

He has performed well at a much higher level in the past, however, including when 3rd in a $25,000 claimer at Parx in November and looks capable of going one better to help trainer Jamie Ness improve on his 19% strike-rate (12/64) at this meeting.

3:58 pm ET Parx (Race 10) – Beren 8/5 (2-star play)

Beren showed good form at stakes level throughout 2022, including when winning the Jump Start Stakes over 7 furlongs at Parx by 3 1/4 lengths. He finished on the board in both his subsequent starts, including when 1 1/4 lengths 2nd in a 6-furlong stakes race at Laurel at the end of last month.

The drop to allowance company is a positive move for the son of Weigelia, who usually races close to or on the speed.  He looks capable of registering a 10th career success.
