4:00 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 1) – She’s So Nice 5/2 (2-star play)
A winner on turf in Europe in 2020, the daughter of Mehmas has been lightly raced since joining the Philip D’Amato barn, making just 4 starts. She registered a first victory for the yard when winning over an extended 6 furlongs at Santa Anita last October.
A last-of-7 run over this course and distance followed, but she bounced back with a good 1 1/2 length 3rd at this track in March. She has delivered some solid work since, and looks up to taking this contest.
5:44 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 4) – Starship Sky 5/2 (2-star play)
Starship Sky has proved herself to be competitive at this level, finishing on the board twice in $16,000 claiming contests late last year, including when 3 1/2 length 3rd over an extended mile at this track in December. There were excuses when being slowly away and pulling early in a $25,000 claiming race on turf there last month.
Improvement is expected and is taken to help jockey Edwin A Maldonado improve on his 15% strike-rate (21/139) at this meet.
7:20 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 7) – Cash Equity 8/5 (2-star play)
Cash Equity demonstrated good form when trained in France, including when winning at Le Lion-d’Angers over a mile and 2 furlongs in May last year. He made a highly promising start to his career with Philip D’Amato when finishing 1 1/2 lengths 2nd in a mile and 1/8th allowance optional claimer at this track last month.
The extra furlong today is in his favour and he looks capable of delivering a victory with Juan J Hernandez booked to ride following a 1:02 5-furlong work a week ago.
