4:30 pm ET Saratoga (Race 7) – Love Reigns 5/2 (2-star play)
The Galway Stakes, over an extended 5 furlongs on the turf, features some very quick 3-year-old fillies, and a case can be made for many of them, but they will all have to go some to beat Wesley Ward’s Love Reigns.
She’s a lightly-raced dual Listed Stakes winner with more improvement in her, and she is tactically versatile, so she should go close with Joel Rosario having plenty of options from the 8 post.
5:06 pm ET Saratoga (Race 8) – Haul 3/1 (2-star play)
A field of 6 2-year-old colts is set to go to post for this Grade 2 event which looks to be between Rhyme Schemes, Edified and Haul, with preference for the Todd Pletcher-trained Haul, who was very good in his debut at Belmont Park last month.
This son of Army Mule was an easy 3-length winner of his maiden and has been impressive in recent workouts at this track, so a bold bid is expected.
5:44 pm ET Saratoga (Race 9) – Emmanuel 3/1 (2-star play)
Todd Pletcher saddles two as he looks to win the Grade 1 Fourstardave Handicap for the fourth time and he can do just that with Emmanuel who is preferred over Annapolis.
Jose Ortiz’s mount is good enough to win at the top level, as his previous form in Grade 2 and 3s suggest, and he should get a nice enough pace to aim at today, so expect to see him finishing fast and late down the stretch.
6:17 pm ET Saratoga (Race 10) – Ice Road 8/1 (1-star play)
The penultimate event at Saratoga is an open Starter Allowance over a mile on the dirt course and I like Ice Road who can go one better after finishing 2nd in his last 2 starts.
His sire, Keen Ice, was a winner at Saratoga and this colt will be suited by this step up to a mile as he was running on well over 7 furlongs last time out.
