Purchased for $100,000 as a yearling at the Keeneland September sale last year, this daughter of Midshipman has shown good form in 3 starts to date. she appeared to appreciate the switch to turf when breaking her maiden by3.75 lengths over 5 furlongs at Belmont Park in June.
George Weaver’s filly followed up in a minor stakes contest at Monmouth Park and she looks capable of completing a hat-trick with Irad Ortiz riding for the first time.
4:02 pm ET Saratoga (Race 6) – Lamorna 7/2 (2-star play)
The daughter of Munnings showed plenty of ability when coming from off the pace to register a 1.25-length 4th in a maiden special weight over 5.5 furlongs at Saratoga when debuting a month ago.
The selection arrives after a 35.33 3-furlong breeze on the main track and, with the extra distance looking likely to suit, she is taken to break her maiden for a handler who can boast a 16% strike rate (11/69) at his meeting.
4:37 pm ET Saratoga (Race 7) – SundaeswithSandy 4/1 (2-star play)
Trainer Michelle Nevin has failed to register a winner from 14 starters at this meeting but her representative looks capable of getting her off the mark following a 1.5-length victory in an allowance optional claimer over a mile at Belmont Park last month.
The gelding was runner-up over half a furlong further in a similar contest there on his penultimate start and he is selected to register his third career win.
